Between July and August, a high-intensity frontal system — rain, wind, and rising rivers — affected an extensive stretch of Chile, with the Atacama, Coquimbo, and Valparaíso regions among the hardest hit. The Government declared a state of catastrophe in the province of Huasco and throughout the Coquimbo Region, and thousands of families were affected by flooding and landslides.
A country that knows how to get back up
It’s tough news, but also a reality we know well: Chile is, unfortunately, accustomed to this kind of event — storms, earthquakes, fires — and that experience, painful as it is, has taught us to organize quickly and coordinate help across the board. It’s the same strength we bring to welcoming those who visit us.
Our operations, without disruption
Based on the information available so far, Protrip’s programs, itineraries, and departures continue running with total normalcy in the north, center, and south of the country. We’ll keep monitoring the situation, and if anything changes for a particular itinerary, we’ll communicate it directly.
